We stayed at The Commonwealth for 2 nights in August, 2023. We drove and used their valet parking for our car. The valets were very nice and accommodating. The location of the hotel is really cool because it is so close to the main green square in Richmond near the governors mansion and the Virginia State Capitol. The location is also nice because where you drive to check in or get the valet is off the Main Street with no traffic and annoyances. The lobby is small but since the building is so old I'm sure it seems small by today's standards. The check in was easy and nice. The elevators are also very small as if they are still the ones from the 1920's. I thought it was cool. All of the rooms have an art theme and are cleverly named. We had a two queen room and it was HUGE. The room off the main door is like a small living room with a huge long desk and a big TV, couch and chairs. In a completely separate room are the two beds and another big TV. Bathroom was nice but probably the only area that might need a little improvement. The tile in our tub had cracked and it looked like a hair (which is never good to see). It ended up being a crack in the tub. We didnt eat at the restaurant but it looked quaint. One thing the hotel might do better is to provide a little more information about when the restaurant is open. I was never quite sure even if breakfast was included in our rate or not. Anyway, overall it was a good stay. If the hotel could add some type of larger pantry for late night snacks without going out that would be nice. The current "Pantry" doesn't give off the vibe of a 4 star hotel. The cleanliness was good. Keep up the good work.

we were here for our dachshund’s spine surgery at the only Neuro vet hospital nearest us - the Bush Neuro Vet hospital is Richmond. we live on the outer banks. we picked the hotel because they allowed 3 small dogs and were located directly across a huge park (where the Capitol building is) so we could easily walk the dogs. the staff was amazing - the people that checked us in - the valet - the cleaners - All attentive and super friendly and compassionate for our dogs major surgery. just a great stay over all. the room was huge - like a small apartment - wife loved the soft mattress - the 2 flatscreens - comfy sofa, kitchenette- and luxury master bath shower. very clean - comfortable- and easy. we loved it. we were about 5-10 minutes walk from lots of places to eat and 15 minutes from the vet hospital.

The bed was extremely comfortable. I'm gonna get one of those mattresses! I booked at the last minute for just an overnight stay. A room was available when I got there and it was clean. I was able to walk just a few blocks to a great restaurant. I felt safe walking at night. Staff was friendly, but didn't really know the neighborhood. Being at such a central location, I expected more foot traffic and hustle and bustle, but it was really quiet.

Older, recently renovated building with a great, eccentric collection of artwork throughout the lobby halls and rooms. Great location downtown, especially if you're there for a show (like we were). The staff was especially friendly and made us feel welcome right away. Everything felt safe and even though it's not a new facility, you can tell there was a lot of care taken to give it a unique look. Would certainly stay again!

The staff were super friendly and welcoming. The room was gorgeous. Comfortable bed. Loved the shower and the products. The restaurant was delicious! Maria was wonderful. Appreciated the decaf coffee option. We didn’t bring our dog, but I love that it’s pet friendly!
